Helsdown Electrical Contractors was founded in 2003 by George and David Helsdown, combining a father-and-son partnership with a shared commitment to doing the job properly the first time.
From small domestic jobs to large-scale commercial and industrial projects, we deliver high-quality electrical solutions with professionalism, reliability and exceptional workmanship.
Today the business sits under the Helsdown Services umbrella, giving our customers access to a wider network of trusted trades while retaining the personal service of a family firm.

George Helsdown
Director / Qualified Supervisor
George Helsdown is the Director and Qualified Supervisor, having started the business at just 20 after qualifying early. He holds City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2, NVQ Level 3, and is qualified in Testing and Inspection. George is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and a Technician Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (TIFSM), with expertise in BS 7671, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and fire risk assessments.
Outside of work, George enjoys spending time with his family and children, going to the gym, and staying fit.
Tyler Burke
Electrician & Fire Risk Assessor
I’m a qualified electrician and fire risk assessor with hands-on experience across domestic, commercial, and industrial. I have a strong background in first and second fix installations, CCTV, alarms and fire alarm installations.
I hold Level 2 and Level 3 NVQs in Electrical Installation and Maintenance, the 18th Edition (BS 7671), and a JIB Gold Card. I also hold a Fire Risk Assessor qualification at Intermediate Level (Building).
Outside of work, I enjoy running, gym training, and attending music events

Outside of work, I’m passionate about sport and fitness, which helps me stay focused, motivated, and goal-oriented both personally and professionally.
David Helsdown
Approved Electrician
David Helsdown began his career in the electrical contracting industry as an indentured apprentice in 1964, qualifying in 1969 and achieving Approved Electrician status in 1972. He has extensive experience across commercial, domestic, and industrial sectors, and successfully ran his own business from the mid-1980s until 2010.
Highly knowledgeable in IET regulations and a wide range of cable systems—including mineral installations for petrochemical work—David joined Helsdown Electrical Contractors Ltd in 2010. After transitioning to part-time work in 2023, he retired from fieldwork at 75, though he continues to support the business in an administrative role.
Outside of work, David enjoys gardening, history, following sports (especially his grandchildren’s), and spending time with his family, including helping care for his daughters’ dogs.
Rebecca James
Administration Assistant
20 years experience in an administrative and secretarial capacity in Local Government and private family run businesses.
Trained and qualified in Customer Service, Business Administration, Book Keeping & Accounts software. Value family time and enjoy taking care of my health & well being.
